Peaches for certain.

The Peppermint Party cupcake was a good one.

No one ever talks about the traffic in Seattle. No wonder bikes are so popular.

TS turned the ripe old age of 26. She likes fruit pies. Lucky me! So do I.

Ross helped, and Jackson offered his services as taster, but we declined.

Local blueberries, local peaches. Yum.

I don't know where the lemon came from.

More blueberries! And some really tasty walnut bread. And the birthday girl herself, of course.

Hmm...No one's looking. If I just...I could eat this whole pie myself...

We typed a list of wishes for TS on her new typewriter.

Sloan enjoyed her very first MGD.

Ellie gave TS a slobbery birthday kiss.

Happy Birthday, TaraShea.

Little bones. Soft skull.

The other night we walked by a bar and saw these two fellows enjoying a couple Rainiers in Tyvex suits. They wouldn't tell me what they were up to, but let me take some photos.

Ross and I spent an evening perusing Myles' inventory. They have a pair of nifty typewriters--a junior, more portable version, almost the size of a laptop, and a bigger one that matches. This is the big one; it comes in a case.

And an encyclopedia of obstetrics from the late 1800s.

Oh, the dreadful boredom of giving birth...

And the grace of a newborn.

One of Myles' latest finds is this magic handbook, a WPA project. The artist is not identified.

And a second copy of accordion style world atlas.

Now that we'll be moving to more permanent digs, I've been documenting our current place, which is slated for destruction in September.

I'm sometimes afraid I'll lose my balance going down this ladder, and crack my head on the hatch.

The cats are fearless though, always racing up and down.

Hilltop hilltop

Our cottage has a ladder that leads to two attic rooms, separated by the chimney.

Too bad I haven't been using mine for much writing.

Ross was grumpy yesterday because we hadn't heard from the building mangager of the apartment we applied for.

So we went out for Vietnamese lunch. Each table had a list of vocabulary words with funny usage sentences. Sorry you can't read them.

But the pho was not as good as St. Louis'. We'll have to keep looking.

The city is full of cool old Raleigh frames, because the Raleigh offices are in Kent, just south of the city. They used to build the bikes there, too. (Carey works for Raleigh)

We got the apartment after all.

A lot of the hallways in old buildings around here look like hotels.

Our future mailboxes...
