TS and I flew to St. Louis for a visit, and for Rachel's wedding shower.
Seattle has the rainy reputation, but the rain in St. Louis was more oppressive, and so much darker.
Good thing Elizabeth was there to fix us a cozy, delicious dinner.
The next day was brighter. Anton picked TS and I up on campus and toted us off for some lunch and some chat.
We spent a lot of time at Meshuggah, just like the old days. Things have changed a bit there. For one, they sell beer and wine. For another, the upstairs is like a 50s living room. Also, Patrick is off eating croissants in France, letting his minions run the place. But all the same people are still around--in fact, there are even more of them.
I think I've taken almost this exact photo of Dawn in the past...
Elizabeth and Maggie had more than a few folks over to their place after a reading. I think, when I took this photo, Kyle was waxing about the village he wishes to live in, somewhere in Europe? All I heard was that a village is necessary to Kyle. A village. Soon.
Elizabeth and Maggie live in a lovely, huge apartment, full of books and flowers and shiny floors, bits of letters and poems and photos, ongoing Scrabble games, typewriters, vegetables, and miniature spools of thread.
Jaffa's hair has grown.
Elizabeth confessed she often sits on a stool in her pantry.
And that Penguin shower curtains make a good backdrop for almost anything.
The streets are so straight and flat, the houses so perfectly aligned.
Up next: a mostly blurry feature on my youngest friend...
