STILL LIFE WITH INSECTS AND HAILSTONES

Saturday we had four rounds of hail.

Lauren and I threw handfuls at the boulders afterwards.

The boxelder bugs crawl on my window screens all day. Then they die in the window sill.

I have finagled a few studio tours lately. First, Lauren's Labor Camp.

She has a show opening in Pittsburgh this weekend. It will involve robotic rats for which she recently sewed little pelts. http://www.lfadams.com/

Lauren-as-Sisyphus should appear pushing a boulder sometime this afternoon...

The artists' work is really interesting, but an equally interesting aspect of the studio tour is seeing their studio detritus.

These were stolen from Jason's scraps, I assume.

Jason's been drawing very large birds and carving gigantic needles.

And Georgia's latest project involves glowing ping-pong balls that move very gracefully in the breeze. http://georgiajunegoldberg.com/

Mary Jane is the director of Jentel.

And Mike is in charge of landscaping and rattlesnake patrol.

This little guy squirmed for hours after Mike chopped his venomous head with the pruners.
